Someone tell me that all this money and time I’m spending on this costume is worth it.

It’s been a long time since I made a very involved costume like this, and I forgot how much I love it

But oh god the <i>money

From the archives of the Smithsonian Institute, on view for the first time at the exhibiton ‘Captain Amarica - the living legend and symbol of courage’, opening on Friday, July 4, 2013.

I recently visited an exhibition on war propaganda and was inspired to make some posters not only for Cap but also for Bucky, Peggy and the rest of the Howling Commandos. Some of the artists I referenced are Edward Penfield, Norman Rockwell and Joseph C. Leyendecker. Thanks to agentbartomanoff for beta-ing the slogans.

What piqued Miller’s interest was how “understanding” and “helpful” Sherlock was, traits the actor believes were rarely communicated. “In the books, I found him to be a much more understanding guy. I feel that he really likes people a little bit more than I had seen recently — not that he can necessarily communicate that very well. He likes the underdog, and he likes people who are downtrodden, who are having a hard time. He generally wants to help. I found him to be a much more helpful person, so I tried to put a bit of that in, even though he doesn’t quite pull it off.” [x]

Russian artist Yulia Brodskaya creates playful illustrations, installations and paper cut works using a unique method she developed after leaving her graphic design job in 2006. The artist rolls tiny strips of colorful paper into spirals that she aggregates into larger shapes, creating textural works that lie somewhere on the horizon between two and three dimensions. Her whimsical, springy work invites a sense of optimism. While paper cut art is typically a small-scale medium, Brodskaya often creates mural-sized artworks and installations for commercial clients, using paper to transform rigid spaces into fantastical realms.
